Job Description
-The purpose of the Marketing BU is to sustainably maximize cash flows from the marketing of Anglo American products and services. In support of this, we have set ourselves a target to deliver a considerable uplift in Value by 2023.

The Base Metals business environment is experiencing increased levels of complexity, which require greater agility and robust processes to avoid value leakage while optimizing 3rd party trading and equity sales operations for value maximization. This role is fundamental to the delivery of Marketing’s ambition.

Purpose:

Enable value creation from core, equity production marketing, by scheduling the shipments from different ports to deliver an operational and administrative support to the Marketing copper unit. Unlock value opportunities delivering timely information to all the team involved with the logistics, such as sales ops team, managers, off-takers, reporting and shipping team.

Key Tasks:

Safety, Health & Environment:

  • Every Marketing Employee will spend time each quarter working on activity which supports Physical Health and Safety.

Performance & Delivery:

Schedule and coordinate more than 100 Bulk and 40 of Containers Vessels per year to shipments different products (concentrates, anodes and cathodes) from different ports in the Chilean coast every year.

  • Formulate and manage shipping schedules for traded and equity products
    • Formulate : Determine the loading sequence within the month (laycan-customers-vessels), design laycan declarations to deliver on customer commitments and target working capital levels.
    • Manage : Adjust loading sequences and laycans based on changes to production availability, port congestions (weather, competitors’ loading) and trading/blending opportunities.
      • Allocation of available qualities to customers/blending/trading opportunities.
      • Adjust sequence of loading within month, in response to changes in port availability, production quality, trading/blending opportunities, and contractual QPs
      • Formulate port storage plan to ensure segregation of qualities as required by customers.
      • Manage blending operations (timing, volume, qualities).
  • Provide support and logistic solutions to Sales and S&O activities (feasibility/plans for blending, trucking, shipping).
  • Coordinates scheduling of vessels and vessel acceptance by Port Authorities and Shipping for LATAM. Alert Shipping and Sales Ops on any incoming delays/change of vessel.
  • Providing on demand support to the Manager Commercial and Tactical Planning regarding queries on port performance (weighing, sampling and moisture determination)
  • Logistics input for budgeting and OMS processes (costs, capacities, etc)
  • Support negotiations with logistics providers (ports, warehouses, freight forwarders, etc)
  • Warehouse administration monitoring qualities to comply with shipping requirements.
  • Update Aspect with all required logistic information such as freight rates and parities.
  • Month-end reporting on sales, transport and stocks.
  • Contract Administration for all logistics contracts such as Ports, Warehouses, Surveyors etc.

Compliance:

  • Adherence to all Anglo American Group and Marketing policies and procedures, as well as observing proper standards of conduct relating to the role.
  • Comply with Anglo American Security and Operating Standards
  • Execute Logistics Operations in alignment with Group Business Integrity and Governance.

People & Teams:

  • Liaise with inland logistics to coordinate delivery of products.
  • Support continuous review processes to identify opportunities that will help maximize value • Support the implementation of key optimization projects to maximize value for the Marketing BU.

Qualifications
-Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Business, commercial and or relevant field.
  • Advanced in MS Office.
  • English skills written and spoken at an advanced level.
  • Current B Class driver’s license.
  • Hybrid working conditions, Monday to Friday working from our Santiago Corporate offices and working from home office.

Experience:

  • 2 years’ experience in logistics management or coordination within commodities and or similar role.

Specific Knowledge requirements:

  • Strong ability to manage several activities simultaneously.
  • Deep understanding of commercial and logistics aspects related to Base Metals Marketing.

Technical Skills:

Shipping Operations - Thorough understanding of port efficiency and the entire logistics chain including technical procedures such as stowage plans, load and discharge sequences for metallic and concentrate copper, to plan.

Commodity Knowledge - Understands the production process, technical characteristics, market dynamics, commodity applications, our customers, their requirements and how we deliver value.

Negotiation and Influencing - Develops and uses negotiation and influencing skills and strategies and builds relationships to create optimal outcomes to deliver value.

Integrated Sales and Operations Planning - Manages activities throughout the marketing value chain to maximize the value of product delivery into the market.

Customer Relationship Management - Understand and anticipate external customers’ needs and takes action to meet expectations and deliver value quality outcomes.

Market Analytics and Intelligence - Leverage market information to develop strategies and opportunities that create value for the business.

Risk Management - Understand, quantify and manage the risks of the business across the whole marketing value chain to support value creation.

Shipping and Logistics for Delivered Sales - Manage shipping of commodities efficiently and effectively to generate value including chartering, operations and scheduling.
